FunkyMama Aqua is an exercise class particularly suitable for women who find land based exercise difficult due to joint pain, abdominal stretching, incontinence, back pain or other discomforts. The Heidelberg pool is comfortable at 30 - 31 degrees celsius. FunkyMama Aqua consists mainly of strengthening and stretching and some aerobic exercise and takes about 45 minutes. It is not essential to be able to swim, although feeling comfortable in chest height water is recommended. We use some pool equipment to provide extra resistance and add variety to the class.
Please discuss attending exercise class with your relevant health care provider; eg; GP, Midwife, Obstetrician or Maternal and Child Health Nurse, and download screening form and client responsibility form and bring to first class 10 minutes early so that Fiona can check forms and discuss with you. If you require an individual Physiotherapy assessment, Fiona can arrange referral to appropriate Physiotherapy services.
Bring bathers, towel, and a water bottle and eat at least 1-2 hours before class.
